KICKBOXING
KARATE
The Kumite in the Traditional Karate, Set One from both Kihon and Jiyu Ippon form the basis for our Karate free sparring Kumite
We practice sometimes with the forearm pads and VT gloves
Trad Karate Set One and Two can be done on pads and partner drill
We then add the Kyokushin Kumite sets
Set 3 is Karate ABCs
Set 4, 5 and 6 are defence and counter sets
We block
- forearm to forearm
- forearm to shin
- shin to shin
then counters
Some of the Trad Karate drills can be worked on the focus pads

SPARRING
Trad Karate - kicks to head, leg and body - all punches to body - light contact in competition
SC KB/Freestyle Karate - same format - lighter gloves and some contact in competition
Boxing
Trad Kickboxing - all punches and kicks above belt - full contact in competition
Standard Kickboxing - our regular sparring includes the low kicks - Karate and Boxing combined
Savate - same as standard kickboxing - structure different in competition - kick "fencing" as much as kick "boxing
Muay Thai - knees and elbows allowed in competition - structure different due to closer "8 weapons" and the use of shin
