We have a deal worked out with Blitz to supply us with all our equipment.
We will mainly be looking for gear for the kickboxing class, mainly sparring gear, pads and shields, and weapons for kobudo, mainly sticks and knives.
However, check out their website http://www.blitzsport.com/ and see if there's anything you want, and note the price (don't forget P&P will be added). Then drop me an email at shirotoratiger.yahoo.co.uk and see what discount we can get for you.
Once I let you know, bring the money to the Thursday class - cash is preferred - and I will place the order on the Friday morning. All things being well the kit should be delivered in time for next week's class.
For the basic ST session you don't need any specific kit or equipment, nor do you need a specific uniform - just wear what's comfortable.
However we can get you training kit that's better, more durable, and cheaper than what you'll find in the shops:
Uniform
Kung Fu Pants - better, cheaper and more hard wearing than track pants. £8
Boxing boots - lighter soles, and cheaper than trainers. £25
Blitz shoes/trainers - same. £30
T shirts - wear any T shirt you like or order one of the Blitz range. £10
Thai Shorts - if you want them we can get them. Good for the kb sessions. £15
Gi and gi jackets - for the grappling stuff you'll need a gi jacket at least. Karate jacket is OK, Judo jacket is better. Also good for a lot of the grab defences we employ, as well as practicing chokes on each other.
Karate gi - between £20 and £60.
Judo gi - same cost
Jujutsu Gi - start at £35
Boxing shorts £10
Boxing Vests £10

Weapons
The basic kit you will need is a pair of sticks. We get those for you at £15 a pair.
You may want to invest in a stick bag, a one time purchase.
You'll also need stick tape.
You'll need a training knife, and there is a range available for £5.
Stick bag is £10.
"Advanced" weapons practice starts with tonfa.
You can purchase these as a pair. £20
You can also get foam practice versions for £10 a pair.
Third weapon we practice is the nunchaku.
You'll need a foam/cord one for basic use and sparring. £5, £10 a pair.
Foam chain is stage two. £7, £14 a pair.
Wood/chain is stage three. £7.50, £15 a pair.
We also practice nunchaku in pairs as well as single.
Swords and sticks:
Red Oak bokken £8
Red Oak Jo £10
Red oak Bo £12
Shinai £20
Rattan Bo £12
Sparring armour we'll also look into as the class progresses.
The kali armour is better and more economical than kendo armour and half the price.
It costs about £100 for a full set of kali armour including helmet, body armour and gloves.
Whether we just do a club purchase or people want to buy their own we'll work out in time.
But we'll be looking to start sparring with sticks and nunchaku as soon as students feel ready.
We'll then be looking to move on to sparring with swords and staffs.
