Savate set One Number Five
jab, cross, hook, h fouett, lo rear fouette bas, front chas
J, C, H as entry, same as box set 2.2
In box 2.2 we follow with U, here we keep long range by using long looping H
pull back to fouette figure, hi round kick
low rear fouette bas
left thrust kick front - chas frontal
this set introduces the front thrust kick Chas Fontal, so far we have just done the Chas, which is the side kick, and the spin back version - this is with the left leg, the lead switch
we land the hook then the fouette to the same target
In the combination round kicks, based on Kali 2 Count, we have been doing low to high - in this set we see the first example of hi to low with the fouette
after the fouette bas we jump switch back the lead leg to make it a powerful Chas of what is then the left rear leg
this is the same as Thai Set Two where we jump the lead leg back for the Tiip Push Kick
In Thai 2 it is the opening move, in Savate 1.5 it is the closing move
In Karate, the Mae Geri front kick is the first kick learnt of the primary four kicks
In Savate the Chas side kick, called Kekome in Karate, is learnt first and considered more important
In Thai, the Dte round kick is the primary weapon, with the Tiip front punch kick being a method to push the opponent back to set up the Dte
Karate uses the concept of Keage Snap and Kekome thrust for it's kicks - Yoko Geri Kekome is the side thrust kick, though it is most commonly referred to as simple Kekome, the Japanese word for Chas
The Savate fouette whip kick is a kind of mawashi geri keage, as it whips and snaps round
The Thai Dte is more like a mawashi geri Kekome as it thrusts in with the hip and uses the shin, without a knee whip
Savate is longer range, boot range
Thai is medium, shin range
