12noon til 3pm
Bright sunny Winter day, cold and crisp, low wind - ground wet and muddy
Warmed up with stick drills
No Ground training, though we looked at where throws and takedown sit in the technique series, to be properly examined "on future grass days"
Example - two punches end with the entry for Musha Dori or Ganseki - we practice the entry for the throw and the Kuzushi unbalancing, though do not actually throw - at a future session we practice both throws
We reference Ground followups - and at the future session we practice them
Today we practiced
mainly DAKEN TAI JUTSU from Shinden Fudo Ryu as planned
KOSHI Jutsu from GYOKKO Ryu
KOPPO Jutsu from KOTO RYU
Defences against single or double punches, grabs

- Shisan ken fingers to Sonu throat hollow
- Boshi Ken thumb drive to muscle points
- Fudoken clenched fist to Suigetsu solar plexus
- Koppo Ken thumb knuckle to neck Uko and temples Kasumi
- Shako Ken claw to face and eyes Ganseki
- Shitan Ken spear hand finger drive
- Kikaku Ken head butt - Zu tsuki head thrust

- Shizen Ken natural weapons, teeth for biting
KEMPO JUJUTSU - Grab defences, a lot from behind - more complex sequences
And Tank made friend with a local dog
There was no sign of Harry
The main focus today was technique sequences from the Ryuha, both the simpler yet more complex sequences, as well as the more complex sequences such as the rear grabs
The flow and connections were important, the grouping of the sequences
Example : rear grabs included
Bear hugs
Full nelson
Hammerlock
Both wrist grabs
Both arms seized
The purpose of the response is to defence the grab from behind, just as we defend an attack from in front with punches and kicks, then apply the correct response
At the end we worked a series of five bent arm locks standing
Musha Dori
Oni Kudaki
Ura oni Kudaki
Ude Gaeshi
The Ude Gaeshi henka
This was the most technical part of the session, and unplanned, evolving naturally from the training we had done
