CLASS FORMAT
The Class format has pretty much been standard for the last Decade or so:
Double Stix at Start
which would flow into single stick and knife
any other weapons
"Bit in the middle"
which would include
Unarmed
Kempo, Karate, Koppo
WC and NRG
sometimes we put down mats for TD and Newaza
KB
which would mean pads on and any impact work such as focus mitts and thai pads
partner drills
KB sparring at end
So the format for Double stix at start, KB sparring at the end, with everything else in the middle, evolved naturally in our first couple of years and we have stuck to that
The NEW format which we have been developing:
Double sticks at start
Other weapons
NRG, WC, Trapping
KB Sparring
impact, pads on, sparring
MATS down
Beyond sparring
Kempo and Koppo with TD
JJ and Newaza
The major change in the "New Second" format is the KB bit is in the middle, after we progress from Weapons to Unarmed, THEN we put the mats down
Some of this was influenced by the recent year's GRASS training where there is no "KB bit at the end" so is all Weapons and Unarmed - TDs would depend on if the Grass was dry enough, and Weapons depended on the sunlight, so this was very much Seasonal, with early and late Season seeing Weapons only possible in the first hour
Early and Late Season Grass would often be
Weapons
Unarmed
Close Range
Summer Season could well see us doing Weapons all through the session and would often involve TD and Ground
See if this Year's GRASS goes the same way
The two DOJO formats are of course interchangeable, depending on what we are looking to develop and progress at the time
