Colder then we expected, damp but not wet, no sun but no rain

Covered Jiu Jitsu and Ninpo Taijutsu - mixed and matched the order

Ninpo Taijutsu:

Kihon Happon 8 basic taijutsu techniques:

we did the koshi kihon sanpo at the end

ichimonji strike
hichu strike
jumoinji strike

torite kihon goho:
omote gyaku
with punch
ura gyaku
musha dori
ganseki nage

we looked at some takedown variations with musha dori including the "police" variation

we looked at 3 variations on ganseki nage - ganseki otoshi and ganseki ori

all kihon happo use the ichimonji kamae however ganseki makes use of hook kamae the "bear" posture in the execution of the throw

taihenjutsu rolling - both as an exercise and as a receiving method in kihon happo

Jiu Jitsu:

Guard game:

we considered the 5 Guard submissions - we know triangle choke and arm bar and it's transitions
we know kimura

4th guard submission is guillotine - this involves strategy as you would not directly go for this move, it's applied when going for the kimura and the energy and reistance gives you the correct opening

5th guard submission is take the back and apply sleeper - with a possible kata sleeper option

5th guard submission originally listed is the omoplata, however that is an advanced move that needs as advanced transition and reflexes

We then looked at guard punch def series - we know 1 to 4 so we looked at stage 5

Then guard sweep series:

elevator sweep
scissor sweep - including knee post variation
double ankle sweep knee drive - through to mount
double ankle sweep boot drive - get up in base - take side mount
ankle knee sweep

so in guard game we actually have 15 techniques:
5 punch def seq
5 sub seq
5 sweep seq

this goes to show the limitations of sticking to the basic listed 10 on the structured "syllabus" and the importance of covering all strategies - and of course "thinking outside the box"

a good example:

the mount escape shrimp pair well with the elevator sweep - you can't trap and roll escape so you shrimp through and put him in the guard - he tries to step and stack you elevator sweep - and you have the mount

similarly the elevator sweep pairs up in strategy with the take the back technique - an aggressive opponent in your guard, whether stepping up and punching, or trying to stack and choke gives you something you can use - use his aggression and energy against him, the essence of Jiu Jitsu - if he steps, sweep and take mount, if he stacks, take the back

and remember - he is trying to get out of your guard because you have the advantage with a series of submissions you can work on him

we then looked at side mount game:

take side mount
stablise
submissions - Americana - and straight arm possibility
kimura - and straight arm possibility
the strategy of branch up, branch down or straight
the step over kimura

scarf hold
choke submission

scarf hold escapes:
frame
roll - leg scissor choke
sit though and take mount
frame countered
take the back

guillotine:
we know standing guillotine as the second choke and flows from the sleeper
stop tackle and apply choke
pull guard
and choke from guard as 4th submission

shoot:
shoot whether opponent is punching or conservative
clinch
leg hook td
if opponent is striking in the clinch use body fold td

followup:

ninpo sanshin
Ninpo earth book locks

JJ standing phase - the rest of the tactics and takedowns
