Those who attended had a great four hour session which went by surprisingly quick
The ground was dry but a bit hard, and the rain couldn't make it's mind up, so we spent a portion on the grass and a portion in the tree section
The bulk of the session was Kempo Jujutsu and Kempo stix - just as we do Five Swords with swords as well as with knife and unarmed we looked at kempo techniques that work as double stick techniques, with variations, extensions and insertions that are specific to each
Though we don't actually learn and practice forms and kata at STMA, we looked at how each sequence is repeated on booth sides left and right and how the opening section of a set is a multiple opponent defence
We looked at how MK sets such as Five Swords and Reversing Mace can be adapted in a multiple opponent scenario and how when the attacker goes down you continue to us the combination on a different height while moving up the circle to turn and face the next attacker
For knife we looked at Lance series knife defence
We will continue to use Kempo-Kali in class this month as well as cover the weapons defences
At the course we also trained Kumo Jo on the grass and hubud to NRG to chi sao in the trees
