Tonight we looked at Delayed Sword, the first Kihon Fundamental technique of Kempo
Kempo is the art of using a fist to strike a point on the body
the obvious and first example is the KO punch - using the first 2 knuckles of the fudoken, clenched fist, to hit the point of the jaw, mikauki, to cause a KnockOut
Kempo taken to the higher level bifurcates into 2 further arts:
Koppojutsu - the art of bone breaking
Koshijutsu - the art of striking nerve points and muscles - kyoshi - PSNA - Pressure Sensitive Nerve Areas
Kempo with grappling extensions, insertions and intentions become Kempo Jujutsu
this is different from "pure" Jujutsu, in intention and action, and usually result
Delayed Sword is done against a lapel grab
you cover the grabbing hand and step back
you strike his grabbing arm
kick the groin - or maybe leg
ura shuto to the side of the neck - shofu - to KO
the "thumb up" inside of his radius has the radial nerve, a kyusho
the groin and shofu are kyusho
so Delayed Sword is all about 3 kyusho - it is a basic Kempo move or a more complex KoshiJustu move
if you use the strike to break his arm, pelvis or leg, then his neck it becomes a KoppoJutsu move
if you us the body mechanics, step and sink, to control the arm, check the leg, etc, you are using Kempo Jujutsu
the purpose of Kempo in Kempo JJ is to use the strikes as atemi - the strike is not the purpose of the technique, it is to cause pain and a reaction which allows you to set up the control, restraint, lock, td
in pure Jujutsu you take the energy the attacker gives you and use that to determine your technique, lock flows are determined by how your attacker reacts and resists the first move
