For the current RDD we will combine mount control with guard punch def

The idea is that you start from the mount and practice all versions and variations of mount control. If you can maintain the mount then you will be able to go for your submission. In the earlier RDDs we practiced catch and release so after you get the tap, whether that be Americana, Armbar or choke, you allow the attacker to roll into your guard.

The next RDD actually takes things a step further by allowing the upa after the mount control sequence so you pull guard and immediately start your guard punch def sequence. Of course if you can control this stage of guard game and not get KOd then you can progress to your submission.

And of course the next level is when you succeed in defending the punches, but he passes your guard before you can apply your submission. So you need to incorporate the counter to the guard pass in your setup. Obvious example being triangle set up to prevent the outside pass, then correctly apply all four stages of the technique to ensure you get the tap without him escaping. To achieve perfection of this, have your partner test each of the four stages to make sure he can't get out. This of course applies to every technique. To ensure you have perfected the technique you must make sure it is airtight.
