working the combative series we started with groundbud, escape mount, pass guard, control and Americana
there are 3 ways to do each other these so a total of 12 techniques, each side of the body, making 24 items on this basic drill - get these perfected and you won't need anything else
obviously the next stage is if the opponent rolls over we take the back, do sleeper choke and then cover remount - we did that on Mount mat day so didn't go over it tonight
we did do the armbar from the mount again for 2 reasons
first being of you go for it and it fails he will sit into your guard so you start Guard game from there
second being so you can use it in your guard submission series
so in guard we started with punch block series stages 1 to 4
then did triangle choke
we looked at the 3 ways to apply the triangle from the setup:
a grappler passing the guard
a puncher striking stage 1.5
a street fight where he is bigger, heavier and stronger - the Giant Killer
we then applied the armbar from the guard
at this point we have a choke and armbar on both sides so 4 techniques we can use to finish from there
we did the transitions so
if you are going for choke and he pulls away, apply armbar
if you are doing the armbar and he pulls his arm out you apply triangle
we also looked at the advanced option of if he falls down do a face down armbar
and the imoplata lock his arm using only your legs - this again is applied when he pulls away from the armbar and leaves the other arm with you
the third submission from the guard is the kimura - which is all about the shrimp
next we looked at sweeps
if he comes to one foot and tries to punch we do elevator sweep
we then looked at stage 5 punch defence
covering and pulling back to guard
rollover for when he grabs your leg
matador pass if you are outside stage 5 - this puts you in side mount
shikko kneeling leg td - "leg ikkyo"
using boots to hook
double ankle sweep stage 4 - kick version
knee thrust version - you are lying in stage 3 but he is standing
leg hook - he has one leg forward so you hook his knee and thrust
which covers all the variations of tds from kneeling and stage 5
we then did some rolling at the end
