Advanced Jiu Jutsu
After learning the 40 combatives in order you use the RDDs and FSDs to functionalise them
Beyond this you have the advanced techniques of JJ which also include counters to the combatives, variations, insertions, and extensions
We now look at Rapid Mastery of the techniques, the stage beyond Functionality
To Master a functional technique it must work against all kinds of opponent, which we break down into three categories:
- a bigger, stronger, heavier opponent
- a striker
- a skilled grappler
eg the 3 ways to escape the mount
- bigger, stronger, heavier - standard Monkey Pint
- striker - punch def version
- grappler, who is low hugging your neck with hooks in - grapple escape version
also every move has to be "punch proof", effective when the opponent is trying to hit you - eg punch def in Stage One guard
also every move has to be done on the wood for it to work on the pavement - any idiot can learn to grapple on mats and many idiots do - you need to do "wood work" to make the moves functional for the street
So Advanced Jiu Jitsu is separated into 7 sections and mastered as a cycle
Mount
Back Mount
Side Mount - including scarf hold
guard
half guard
leg locks
standing
eg for Mount we take the 10 combatives already learned,
go over them to check all details,
functionalise for all 3 opponents,
make functional punch proof and on wood
counters for the 10 moves
add advanced moves eg triangle choke from mount
with regards to leglock and half guard these will be all new moves
in the basic combatives you would not use leg locks
if you have broken his guard you pass it - in advanced game you can use leglocks
same applies to half guard - while on the bottom shrimping you can play half guard game
we separate mount from back mount, and there is a lot of back mount defence and counter as well as new submissions
in standing we add more def moves, and now add Judo throws as well as advanced tds
