Kali sinawalli played 6 count henka
6 count with stab
6 count with sipat lo kick
the 6 count stab relates to Five Swords, the stab being the lo punch
we didn't do Five Swords tonight, but everyone knows it
the sipat low kick relates to the use of the low kick in Kempo Freeform where it is an entry on B5
and pairs with the round kick
on Monday's class we did a savate def set, against the front snap kick -
block - sipat as lo sweep - fouette liver - chas bas pied stamp
unusually for a Wed we didn't do serrada and knife, but did go over hubud
however did not do CRA, which we sometimes do from hubud and sometimes to link to the newaza
what we did do was the whole hubud 5
then added bon lop from chi sao
so we have 6 drills in the hubud set
hubud seq:
inside standard hubud
lo hubud
outside hubud
elbow
tapi
bon lop
there is a switch on outide, inside to get to the left side
and a switch on bon lop
GET YOUR HAND BACK AND SHOW YOUR PALM
newaza carpet munch
was some followup, refresher, henka and extension:
escape mount trap and roll, get up
elbow escape mount shrimp to guard and get up - with slap and kick
variations on elbow escape:
standard
hook release
heel drag
heel hook
so however he is maintaining the mount you will get the first leg out
once it's out the rest of the shrimp to guard is the same
guard submissions:
triangle choke
armbar
transition armbar to choke - if he pulls his arm out
transition choke to armbar
kimura
next in sequence is guillotine which we do from a failed kimura - some of you have done this before, and on grass day - we will go over it next carpet session
we also looked at the extended side mount sequence
take side mount
positional control
counter guard attempt with switch to kuzure kesa gatame
transition to mount
switch to kesa gatame scarf hold
submissions:
kata gatame sleeper choke
bent arm Americana using legs
transition to modified juji gatame arm bar
there is a version of the armbar done while still in the scarf hold but you loose a lot of position and it's hard to get right - so the best third move is to take the juji armbar
hubud led to WC NRG which led to chi sao sparring
we linked the lop sao from chi sao by doing kempo free form
B1
B5
KB1a - used sipat and round kick as K to set up
KB5A - used round kick then sipat as entry
B5aPUK
B5aPKU
and of course B5b and B1b
in boxing H is hook and U is Uppercut
in Kempo H is heel and U is uraken - backfist
if I is eye jab
we considered uraken, kick, eye jab, punch - which gives us UKIP
this is similar to how shuto is hand sword
hand - shu, te
sword - to, gatana
so te gatana is another way to say hand sword, and some JJ and aiki ryu do this
we have never seen shu gatana used anywhere
or te to
what we are now looking for is Kempo TeTo - a unique Kempo hand sword - we'll keep you informed
kitan ken is a version of shuto used in Ninpo
in aiki and older JJ they refer to the side of the head - yokomen, so shuto is yokomen uchi, referring to the angle and target
in some schools of karate and KoBojutsu they refer to the target - so if the temple is kasumi then a strike there is kasumi uchi
a kick to the groin is kin geri for example
Anyway
a lot of this I never got round to explaining in class so I'm writing it here
after sparring chi sao we then sparred karate with the pads on
we then put on boxing gloves and did a boxing round before KB freestyle
so sparring tonight:
chi sao
karate
boxing
kickbox freestyle
