We have been working recently on the strategy of keeping distance before shooting to clinch to td
this technique comes from the Gyokushin Ryu
The Ninja appllication, in full, as I have explained, is to keep the distance and throw shuriken and metsubushi to escape - if necessary one could shoot and td and then finish the fight on the floor
obviously the ninja method is to use the blades to finish as demoed in class - cut the right arteries and bleed the enemy out
a further example is to silently approach and td a sentry so he is on the ground below sightlines and finish him silently
Gyokushin Ryu specialises in sutemi waza - sacrifice throws
At Kano's council meeting Takamatsu Sensei demod the waza of Gyokushin, and it is thought that many of the sutemi waza of Judo come from the Gyokushin Ryu
So when anyone tries to tell you the shoot and td is a modern invention, was invented for UFC or MMA, or even invented by the Gracies tell them it is from Gyokushin Ryu, a traditional Japanese school going back 21 generations
The Gracies learnt their takedowns from the Ninja!
