Here is some footage from Japan of some karate tournaments under traditional JKA rules
note punches at jodan head level are all pulled there is no contact - at least in theory
head kicks are allowed
shots to body are allowed
all shots are supposed to be light contact
ankle sweeps - de ashi harai - are allowed as they are on mats so tds are legal - you would not sweep in dojo on the wood
a sweep does not score in it's own right, you need to follow with a kick or punch to finish
