Covered Mount game and introduced a FSD - Fight Simulation Drill
Box Set 3 is the first FSD:
parry opponent's jab
double jab, cross
shield opponent's hook
hook, cross
duck hook
cross, hook
duck hook
hook, cross
it is the first box drill that includes defensive moves to simulate the opponent's moves so you use defence and counter
Box set 6 number 3 is the first KB FSD
so in sparring, both boxing and kb, the FSDs take us closer to real sparring flow, experience, reflexes, and responses
So in grappling we have FSDs made up from the flow of real fight sequences
from outrange match distance
shoot and clinch
stablise clinch
leg hook td
mount
control mount - roll side to side, lo swim
Americana armlock
for the purpose of the drill we don't just stop here but carry on - this simulates what would happen if we could not get the armlock, if the opponent successfully defended it, which can and does happen
opponent rolls to his knees
take the back
opponent rolls
sleeper choke
again, following on, we allow the opponent to turn to face us
remount
opponent pushes chest
hi swim
juji gatame armbar
now if the opponent resisted we would allow him to turn into our guard and play guard game
FSDs can be extended or truncated as needs be
some we start from the ground, take out the shoot and td
some we may remove the Americana and/or armbar or even the control, and then extend into guard game
when guard is passed we are bottom of the mount so carry on from there
or as guard is passed to the outside we can play side guard game
the FSDs progress and develop as the grappling training goes on
