Reflex Development Drills - to develop the reflexes between 2 techniques
eg Escape Mount/Pass Guard, the basic drill - once you have escaped the mount you will be in his guard, he will attempt to pull guard properly and then attempt submissions - you need to pass the guard before he can start his guard game, it is your reflexes that make this happen
Fight Simulation Drills - based on what HAS happened in real fights, therefore what CAN happen at any stage
eg escape mount/pass guard
- IF you stabilise THEN you can apply Americana
- IF he pushes your chest THEN you apply armbar
- IF he turns to his knees THEN you take the back
- IF he upa's you THEN you go to guard game
etc
At STMA it is not just HOW you do a technique it is WHY and WHEN you do it
