I have been posting examples of fight footage at the blog:

Tyson KOs in boxing matches
Kickboxing K1 KOs
UFC/Pride matches under "anything goes" (no) rules
Candid footage of REAL street fights

Have a look through these and see the progression from the training we currently do, to world class pro boxing, kickboxing, Vale Tudo, to Street.

one punch KOs
first rule
multiple opponents
kicks
HKE
grappling
weapons
ambush attacks

I will add more footage from the boxing and kb phases as well as other phases to illustrate points as we progress.

I have posted footage from some classic matches from the first UFCs - before the pussy "MMA" rules came in.

Have a look at these and see if you can recognise the significance of the ground moves we do and their relevance to Street.

Smith - Morris:
Morris shows how NOT to enter and td, ends up on the bottom of the Mount. Smith does ground n pound.
The lesson here is not to use the ground n pound yourself - but how NOT to end up there, and what to do if the opponent mounts and goes to punch.
WHAT would YOU do?
What did Morris NOT do?

Shamrock - Smith
Shamrock fights the brutal Smith and beats him with grappling.
How to break the guard and apply the leglock

Gracie - Smith
We saw how Shamrock beat Smith - hear's how Gracie did it.
Pay attention to how Smith cannot HKE Gracie in the clinch before it goes to the floor.
How would YOU keep the gap against a grappler and HKE?
How would you close the gap against a Thai boxer and go to the floor without taking a knee?
On the floor - Surprisingly little grappling - he beats him with a ground n pound henka.

Gracie - Shamrock
We know Smith was tough and brutal but both Ken and Royce beat him on the floor. But how did they do against each other?
Royce shoots and Ken sprawls (we'll cover this at a later date)
Ken breaks Royce's guard and goes for the leglock which Royce escapes.
How would YOU ensure your leglock worked?
How you YOU ensure your guard wasn't broken so you could go for a choke or lock?
Royce finishes with a clever side choke.

Kickboxing - possibly savate, thai and karate - see what's relevant.

Boxing - Ali's classic fights including use of jab, rope-a-dope, footwork

Stix - Dogs and maybe some native Filipino

I'll post what you need to see in relevance to what we are covering in class at the time.

I have posted 2 fights from UFC 2 featuring Remco, huge Judoka.

An interesting fight with a Thai boxer where he finishes with an elbow on the ground. A rare exaple of a "Pure" Judo throw - in this case soto makikomi.

His fight with Royce. Classic example of skill and technique overcoming strength, size and weight in grappling.
