Two major Japanese arts we have yet to explore in any depth are Judo and Kendo
Kendo:
Starting with the largo stick and drills we will progress to 2 handed drills in Kali then develop techniques and drills from kendo.
Some members have already explored the basic drills from kendo with me last summer.
We will look into acquiring shinai for better drilling and sparring
Members will be able to use largo stick, acquire a shinai, and get a Japanese red oak boken for "suburi" drilling if desired.
Judo:
Judo comes from Jujutsu and in it's original form is a complete Jujutsu system.
extensive experience of BJA British Judo.
We will be exploring Tokyo Kosen Judo which has more emphasis on newaza groundwork and takedowns with a view to grappling as opposed to an "ippon" to finish the fight.
We will keep the CJJ concept of atemi "blow before throw"
We are throwing an opponent with a view to finishing the fight.
We will spar "randori" - fighting for throws.
