Wet ground meant no TDs or Newaza, and the clouds and winds meant there was less light and cold enough for hoodies and gloves the whole session - this is in contrast to last Friday where we wore T shirts all session and the moon and stars kept a twilight feeling for the main part

As I stated, part of the training is using the environment and that includes the darkness and the weather - too much is relied on the artificial conditions of a Dojo or studio in modern times

Ninja training always used to be outdoors in the dark, as that's where the actual fights and missions took place - this is not like the Samurai, or any other culture's armies, who arranged a battle and waited until the sun came up, after breakfast, before starting the battle - the Ninja way is to kill the enemy the night before the battle

Modern military, from the SAS to the Navy SEALS (and the covert units you have never heard of) take advantage of night and natural conditions for Commando Assault

In modern Street fighting and Self Defence, though fights do happen during the day, chances are you will be fighting outside the chip shop at night - if you are a Bouncer, which is where most of our modern applications come from, all your fights will be at night, outside under street lamps, or in a dark club

In ancient times, one did not build a Dojo and training tools, one used the "things of nature"
