savate ABC

Jab, cross, chase bas, revers

Jab and cross as in boxing, on focus pads, other drills

Chas bas, low thrust side kick to opponents lead thigh
This is done with displacement, but not so much that we step too far away to make it effective
Similar to the low kicking done tonight in Kempo, with the checks

Revers, the spin back kick
Done here on the partners praying gloves
In a fight done to the head
If you cannot get your kick that high, a chas bas from the spin is fine

Chas is the side thrust kick in savate
In karate it is kekome
Chas and kekome mean thrust kick
Yoko Geri in karate means side kick
There is also a side snap kick called leave

Bas means low in savate so refers to a leg kick
Chas bas is any thrust kick to the leg, sometimes the hip

Revers is the spin kick, in this case done laterally, in the side kick position

The default position in savate for a kick is side ways so the side kick and round kick are done in this Kamae, as is the revers spin kick

On Muay Thai the default position in the front stance so the tip and dte are applied from here

Thai has no side thrust kick
The Thai round kick is done from the front stance for max power

Savate uses the chas
The fouetté round kick can be done from side position or front stance with proper turn
Fouetté whip kick snaps from the knee so can be down from side stance
