the workout involves one member being coach for 3 rounds, one for each set, before switching roles, and 6 rounds are covered - the length of a "proper" pro round
(amateur boxing matches are 3 rounds - when you turn pro you start with 3 rounders but soon move up to 6 rounders as you get a higher place on the card - a main event is 12 rounds - back in the day main events were 15 rounds and took about an hour)
we also covered thai set 3, with the kick based ABC from set 7, to make a set of 5 ABCs, on the thai pads
for sparring we did chi sao, then boxing, the kb - Orginal Jun Fan progression from the Seattle/Oakland period, pre-LA JKD
in the boxing we looked at the 5 ways of attack
SDA - single direct attack eg a straight cross one punch KO
ABC - attack by combination - eg a jab cross, or any ABC from box set 1 where all the punches land
PIA - progressive indirect attack - a drill using a lo punch as entry to lower the opponent's guard, followed by a high punch for the KO
in the drill we used, a lo jab followed by a hi hook or cross
a lo cross followed by a hi left hook or straight
if the lo punch causes the opponent to bend, cancelling his height, the follow up head punch will be hooked to accommodate the closer range
also, we develop by progressing from outrange to punch range with the first lo straight shot, then progress forward and up for the second
progress from outrange to punch range to close range
progress from left to right or right to left
progress from straight to curved
progress from lo to hi
indirect as we don't go for the hi hook right first, we do the straight lo left first
or vice versa
