Dogs are the best start for home defence - my father kept a couple of Rhodesian Ridgebacks for this purpose.
You might want to choose a different breed, but get a couple that are big and loud.
Beyond that it's target hardening. Why are the crims targetting your property? Make yours a hard target and they will move to one easier - eg one without 2 big dogs.
Beyond that - actually fighting an intruder is the last resort and use my last resort scenario for home invasion, go 100% and take them out.
Weapons - stix. You are an expert at stix and you can leave them lying anywhere in the house never put them away, always have stix near the TV, for spontaneous training, upstairs in the hall, in the rooms.
God help the intruder who encounters a White Tiger with his stix in his hands!

The attacker needs to close the gap to medio range to hit you, most likely on the head
you match distance, stay at largo range, and aim for his hand or arm to defang him
it makes no difference what weapon he is holding in his hand as you are attacking the hand and the weapon never reaches you
If you were unarmed you can use Kempo Lance and Storm series, or even a Rod technique
