The STMA Jiu Jitsu Thread
shirotoratiger.proboards.com/thread/1190/stma-jiu-jitsu
This contains the 40 Combatives, in their 4 sections of 10 techniques, as well as the 40 part Plan - and includes the Advanced Jiu Jitsu lists and notes
Those familiar with the GRACIE Combative sequence will notice in STMA we make more use of Side Mount and Scarf Hold and include submissions
This is largely based on JUDO series NEWAZA from the original KODOKAN - what Maeda was a Shihan in, and what he taught to the Gracie Brothers
Those of you who know JUDO will note how we group Newaza more like the GOKYO Tachi series - this is quite deliberate as this is how NEWAZA was grouped in Kodokan Jiu Jitsu before Judo was refined and Newaza was stripped back for the syllabus through the coloured belts
If you look at KODOKAN JUDO GOKYO - 40 throws, in 5 sets of 8 - then look at the GRACIE Combatives - 36 techniques, and consider what we do here as a more filled out and altered version, our 4 sets of 10 -
And most important of all, STMA is Modern GOSHIN Street fighting based on KORYU battlefield methods. We do development of these methods on the Grass in their original format, and we develop on the Wood so they will work on the Pavement.
We do a portion of mat work, and will look to develop this with new mats in 2020 - though we do not want Mat/Sport reflexes in our Ground game. You are not going to be on a soft mat wearing knee pads when it kicks off outside the kebab shop on a Friday night
We keep it REALLY Real
